Bilateral Sacroiliac Joint Instability with Surgical Fixation - Medical Illustration, Human Anatomy Drawing
This stock medical exhibit illustrates bilateral sacroiliac joint instability with surgical fixation. The first image, a posterior view of the pelvis, presents the pre-operative condition with BAK cages in place from previous surgery and instability of both sacroiliac joints. The second image portrays two Steinmann pins driven across the sacroiliac joints. Then, the making of stab incisions on both sides is demonstrated and screws are driven across both joints and stabilizing pins removed. The final image shows longitudinal incisions that expose the joints, allowing the use of an osteotome to gouge the bone from the joint and then repacking of the bone chips for final fixation.
