Left Ulna Fracture with Surgical Fixation - Medical Illustration, Human Anatomy Drawing
This exhibit begins with one anterior view of the left hand, wrist and forearm illustrating the post-accident condition. The skin is slightly transparent displaying the skeletal anatomy within. This image depicts the two open wounds and fracture of the left ulna and dislocation of the radial head with exposed bone. A skeletal view of the fractured bone is placed beside this image. Multiple steps of the open internal fixation procedure are illustrated in graphic detail. The first step shows the wounds over the olecranon and the fracture site being connected with a scalpel. Next, once the fracture site is exposed, the multiple fragments are anatomically aligned. The third step shows that a Synthes 3.5 mm plate is contoured and secured with multiple screws. The remaining bone fragments are used as bone graft for the fracture.rn
